Intro: At TOBY Corp we are delighted with the introduction of 5 channel sound in movies on DVD discs. It invites people who would never be called audiophiles to discover and appreciate better sound in both movies and stereo. Since 1968, we have designed speakers for wide range and low distortion, with an emphasis on clarity of voice reproduction. We still do that. In this expanded era of speaker business, our customers, for good reason, want to know about possible combinations of TOBY speakers available at different price points. These follow:
Level One: This means starting with a CC 2002 center channel at $299 and a 250 watt powered Cube 14 sub for $599--a total of $898. Then you have to add 4 more speakers. You might use speakers you already have for the left and right front and perhaps even the left and right rear speakers. If you use speakers you already have for the rear, you could add two Short Satellites up front. Cost then would be $848 + 599 = $1447. That's Level One.
Level Two: If you choose, you can add two TOBY Rear Channels at $398 a pair. This brings the total to $1846 for a powered sub and 5 matching speakers. [For space and budget considerations, you could use two great sounding TOBY 8 inch Coaxial speaker kits for the rear at a $100 savings.] Insert: If $1846 seems to be more than you wish to spend, do this... Write down the price of your TV set, your VCR, your tapes, your DVD player, your DVD discs, and your new receiver. (It better be new.) This will easily exceed the speaker cost. Then write down the cost of your cable or satellite service for 5, 10, or more years, and you will notice the speaker portion of the entertainment budget shrink. Remember everything in the audio-video chain is diminished without good speakers. You might want to go to the next level in TOBY speakers...
Level Three: Powered Cube 14 sub--$599, Pro-Sat center--$499, Tall Sat front left and right--$998, two Pro-Sat or Tall Sat rears--$998. A total of $3094 for our best matching home theater parts.
How the levels are alike: All satellites use transmission line enclosures to minimize resonance inside the cabinet. All have high order crossover networks with high quality components. All are tested and have computer frequency curve printouts.
How are level two and three different? Level Two uses single 6 1/2 inch mica doped plastic cone woofers and one inch DX dome tweeters. Level Three uses pairs of cast basket 5 1/2 inch woofers and exotic XT cloth tweeters. [You'll find the same tweeter in a Clase system that sells for $37,500 a pair.] Both woofer and tweeter have pure copper pole piece covers for low harmonic distortion.
Closing: If you are going to spend time in front of your stereo or TV, make it worth your time with good speakers in good places. We can offer expert advice and free 99.999 % pure copper wire with system purchases. Lower Level prices may be available with trade-in or discontinued models. Ask. At Toby Corp we consider it a great honor and a great responsibility to bring good sound into your home.
